Mentorship FAQs

We’ve put together some answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Mentor Program.

What kind of commitment is REQUIRED?

Participants must commit to 1–2 touch points (or 5 hours) per month between the mentor and mentee:

  • A one-on-one activity with their mentor
This is something fun that the mentor provides, such as a guided tour of their company while the mentor and mentee talk about careers, social challenges, and other relevant topics.

  • A phone or text check-in with their mentor

Participants must also attend an all-group meetup once every two months. All mentors and mentees will participate in a purposeful activity together, such as a self-defense class.

What events are mandatory?

Mentors must attend the Mentor Program Training on July 23, 2019, and the Mentor Program Kickoff on August 22, 2019.

Mentees must attend the Mentor Program Kickoff on August 22, 2019.

Dates are for 2019 cohort. Check back later for info about future sessions.

What are the benefits?

All mentees will be building strong networks in their professional community.

In addition to that, select mentees will be awarded with scholarship funding, technology, and more, at the end of the program.

Who can be a Mentee?

We welcome all mentees who meet these two requirements:

  1. Identify as female, and

  2. Be enrolled in 8th through 12th grade in the fall at a San Francisco public school

We look forward to receiving your application!

HoW many mentees can participate?

There are a limited number of spots in the Mentor Program.

We are currently able to work with about 20 to 25 mentees.

Mentors and mentees are hand-selected by us, then matched based on their application answers.

Do I need to be a soccer player?

Nope! Having soccer experience is NOT a requirement for mentors or mentees.

who are the mentors?

We match young professional women mentors from leading companies like Airbnb, Facebook, and Salesforce, with mentees in the program. The two will build a strong mentor-mentee relationship over the course of five months.

have the mentors been vetted?

Absolutely! To ensure a safe, valuable experience for all participants, all mentors undergo extensive background checks, screening, and training.
